About Me

Fresh eyes, practical ideas

I created Marketing MOT UK to help owner-run businesses understand how they appear online from a customer’s point of view.
Not from a complicated marketing dashboard.
Not from a corporate agency checklist.
From the perspective of a real person who is deciding whether to visit, book, enquire, buy or come back again.

Many small business owners already have something brilliant to offer. Good food. Lovely products. A welcoming place. Loyal customers. Events, offers, services or experiences that deserve to be seen.

The problem is that those strengths are not always easy for new customers to spot online.

That is where Marketing MOT UK can help.

Marketing MOT UK helps owner-run businesses spot digital gaps, improve online visibility, bookings, enquiries and reviews, with clear practical next steps.

My marketing background

I have worked across marketing, digital content, customer communication, campaigns, events, social media and brand messaging for a wide range of businesses and organisations.

My background has always been practical and hands-on. I enjoy looking at how a business presents itself, how customers move from interest to action, and how small changes in wording, visibility or structure can make things feel clearer and easier.

That mix of experience is what shaped Marketing MOT UK.

It is not about overwhelming small businesses with complicated marketing theory. It is about giving clear, useful observations that make sense in the real world.

Why I created Marketing MOT UK

I started Marketing MOT UK because I could see how many busy business owners were trying to do everything themselves.

Running the business. Managing staff. Serving customers. Updating websites. Posting on social media. Replying to reviews. Promoting events. Keeping Google information up to date. Trying to work out what to fix first.

It is a lot.

And when you are close to your own business every day, it can be difficult to see what a new customer sees.

Marketing MOT UK gives business owners a fresh, practical view of their digital front door. It helps highlight what is working, where customers may be hesitating, and which small improvements could make the biggest difference.

This is not about criticising what you are doing. It is about spotting where your existing strengths could work harder.

Why I work with owner-run businesses

Owner-run businesses have something larger brands often struggle to create: personality, local knowledge, care and real customer connection.

Pubs, farm shops, cafés, garden centres, small hotels, wedding venues, hospitality businesses and local independents all have stories worth telling. They often have loyal customers, lovely details and genuine reasons for people to visit.

But because the owners are so busy running the business, the online presence can sometimes fall behind.

A menu may be hard to find.
A brilliant event may not be obvious.
A Google profile may not show the full picture.
Reviews may not be used as well as they could be.
Social media may not give people enough reasons to visit.
The booking or enquiry route may feel harder than it needs to.

These are not always huge problems. Often, they are small points of friction.

But small points of friction can affect trust, bookings, enquiries, reviews and repeat visits.

That is why I focus on practical clarity.

My approach

My approach is simple:

No jargon.
No judgement.
Just useful marketing insight.

I look at your business as a customer would. I check what is visible, what feels clear, what creates confidence and where someone may hesitate before taking the next step.

A Marketing MOT can look at areas such as:

Google visibility
Website first impression
Mobile customer journey
Social media storytelling
Reviews and reputation
Events and offers
Booking, enquiry or visit routes
Customer confidence and repeat-visit opportunities

You do not need to have everything perfect before asking for help. That is the whole point.

The aim is to give you a clearer view of what matters most, so you can stop guessing and start making practical improvements with confidence.

What you can expect

You can expect honest, constructive feedback.

You can expect clear observations, not vague marketing waffle.

You can expect recommendations that are realistic for a busy owner-run business.

You can expect a customer-perspective review that helps you understand where your business is already strong and where small changes could help it work harder.

Marketing MOT UK is designed to feel useful, supportive and manageable.

Because good marketing does not always need to be bigger.

Sometimes, it just needs to be clearer.
